The France players were booed on Saturday night as they played out a 0-0 draw against Paraguay.

But the form of Benzema was a rare bright spot for Les Bleus, asking questions of their South American opponents particularly through his link-up play with Franck Ribery.

However, Benzema is not convinced he has done enough to earn a starting berth for France'sJune 9 opener against Romania.

"I don't know," he told www.fff.fr. "These are preparation matches. (Thierry) Henry is indisputable. After, there are places to take.

"In attack, there is (Nicolas) Anelka, (Bafetimbi) Gomis and me - one place between three.

"Me, I play my matches, I try to give everything and afterwards we will see the choices of the coach. I have confidence in myself as usual.

"Whether I line up or not against Romania, I am happy already to be in this group. But the competition does not worry me."

Benzema refutes the idea that, at the age of 20, the tournament has come too soon for him.

He said: "No. This part of my progression. I had a good season with Lyon. Even if I am only 20, I have played big matches against Manchester United in the Champions League.

"This is a big competition that is coming but, for me, that changes nothing.

"Big matches will come but, even if this is the first time I've participated in a big tournament, I must remain concentrated and attentive."

Although no goal arrived against Paraguay, he remains upbeat and is focused on turning his fortunes around against Colombia.

"These are things you work on in training," said Benzema. "In any case, with him it's simple. This is someone who breathes soccer.

"That gives us options in attack. We created a lot (against Paraguay). All that was missing was a goal."

One player certain to be absent from the starting XI against both Colombia and Romania is captain Patrick Vieira.

Domenech revealed on Monday afternoon Vieira would sit out their European opener against Romania in seven days time, with a decision about the midfielder's participation in the tournament expected before the June 8 deadline for calling up replacement players.

Mathieu Flamini rejoined the squad on Monday, with Vieira suffering from a thigh injury which has kept him out of France's warm-up friendlies to date.

Opponents Colombia will be hoping to cause an upset against Les Bleus and make amends for their 1-0 friendly defeat at the hands of Giovanni Trapattoni's Republic of Ireland side last Thursday.

The South Americans are using the match as preparation for their World Cup qualifiers against Peru on June 14 and Ecuador four days later.
