The suspension, which includes a two-game suspended ban, comes at a bad time for Victory, who have collected one point from three matches.

The Kosovo international will miss Victory’s upcoming matches against Central Coast (away) and Western Sydney (home).

Victory confirmed the club and Berisha had accepted the ban after the determation.

Berisha said; "Firstly, I would like to apologise for my actions in Adelaide. It is never ok to touch a match official and for doing so, I am sorry."

"I did not mean any harm and I'm thankful to have received a fair hearing. My focus now is training hard and preparing for my return."

Football Federation Australia (FFA) independent Disciplinary & Ethics Committee comprising John Marshall SC (Chair), Lachlan Gyles SC and David Barrett convened to consider the incident on Thursday evening.

The matter was referred to the Committee by the independent Match Review Panel (MRP) which had jurisdiction to consider the incident as it escaped the Referee’s attention.

The MRP, having reviewed the incident at a hearing on Monday determined that on the basis of the evidence reviewed the Player had a case to answer whether he committed the offence of “Unsporting conduct toward a match official”.

The Committee determined that the player did commit the offence and must serve a suspension of two matches.

The Committee also issued a suspended sanction of a further two matches to be served in the event that the player commits any offence against a match official in any future match this season.
