Berisha helped the Melbourne outfit to their third straight win and first home triumph of the season against the high flying Jets.

Post-match the 32-year-old told Fox Sports: "Look I am very, of course, happy I scored a goal...it was a very important goal, you know, to keep our winning ways.

"I'm a striker, I love scoring goals, I'm always happy to do that...

"We had an unbelievably tough time, especially at the beginning of the season, We know we are a strong team but it just didn't work out in the first games. Now we are winning games and I hope it can continue."

Victory dominated the match and took a well deserved lead through Kosta Barbarouses (33') before Berisha sealed the result (53') after a Jason Hoffman equaliser (46') on the stroke of half-time.

The margin could have been bigger - a Mark Milligan penalty was saved by Glen Moss on the hour and Berisha netted on 68 minutes only to see his goal denied by the offside flag.

It was one in a frustrating string of offsides by the Victory attack and the soon-to-be-Australian admitted he plays his football on the edge.

"I need to be ready as a striker, I play on the limit you know," he said.

"We have very speedy players on the wings and I have to be ready. Sometimes it's not easy. I'm getting older too so I have to be quick up front. I stay sometimes offside but look sometimes I'm not in offside I think and I don't get the goals."

The result sees Kevin Muscat's men surge to third place on the ladder, equal in points with crosstown rivals Melbourne City who are still to play. The Jets remain comfortably in second.
