The Albanian spurned a handful of good chances, before netting the 78th minute winner in Victory’s 2-1 triumph over rivals City at AAMI Park.

Berisha was unusually wasteful in the first half before netting the 90th goal of his A-League career, to equal Archie Thompson as the competition’s all-time top scorer.

“I was very angry with myself (at half time),” Berisha told Fox Sports.

“I went inside and smashed everything around.

“I said to myself ‘keep going Bes, one more chance will come’.

“I’m thankful the pass came and I’m really thankful in the end I scored the winner.”

Berisha was humble when pressed on his A-League goal scoring record.

“I don’t know. I just feel like a very good that we won the derby,” he said.

“For me, I had a couple of chances in the beginning and I thought ‘oh my god, I’m not going to score any more, what is going on’.

“I’m so thankful that I scored in the end and bring the three points for the boys.”
