SWISS-based Socceroo Scott Chipperfield has been linked with a loan switch from FC Basel to German outfit Hertha Berlin.
The experienced left-sided performer has been named in German paper BZ as being poised to link up with the club on a temporary deal until the end of the season.
Despite a spell out of the team through injury this season, Chipperfield has helped Basel to an impressive campaign to date and hit the back of the net on numerous occasions.
North Queensland Fury have also made no secret of their admiration for Chipperfield.
The player himself was not ruling out a return to the A-league earlier in the campaign when he was at that time linked with Gold Coast United.
He told the Gold Coast press back in October: "I'd be very interested in coming to join the Coast. It's exciting that the A-League is expanding and I've got a connection with the Coast in that I own a couple of trotters (in south-east Queensland.
"And my wife and family love the area. It's a team that looks like it has big ambitions and big backers and by all accounts they are going to be very competitive."
