UEFA has banned Besiktas from playing in the 2012/13 edition of the Europa League due to their ongoing financial problems.
The Istanbul giants were given a suspended sentence by UEFA's Disciplinary Committee earlier in May, and the club was warned it would be banned from all UEFA matches if it violated any of European football governing body's regulations over the course of the next five years.
Besiktas have been unable to get their finances organised since being handed the suspended sentence, and have consequently been banned from European football for one season.
The club's financial issues have seen players such as Manuel Fernandes and Matteo Ferrari recently complain about unpaid wages.
Besiktas finished the 2011/12 campaign in fourth position to qualify for the Europa League play-offs, but will now miss out on competing in Europe following the sanction.
