Struggling Real Betis have parted company with coach Luis Fernandez with just one game remaining in the Primera Liga season.
Fernandez only took over the post during the winter break following the departure of Javier Irureta.
The former France international's final match in charge was Saturday's 5-0 home defeat to Osasuna, a result which left Betis 16th in the standings and just a point above the relegation zone.
Paco Chaparro Jara has been promoted from coach of Betis' B side to take over the senior squad as they prepare for next weekend's season-ending clash at Racing Santander, where Betis will be fighting to avoid the drop.
Fernandez, the former Paris St Germain, Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao coach, was named as Betis' new boss in late December after the dismissal of Irureta, who left with the club residing in 18th place.
Under Fernandez, Betis showed signs of improvement and they lost just one of his first 11 league games in charge, while he also led them to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey, knocking out Real Madrid en route.
However, too many drawn matches meant Betis struggled to put distance between themselves and the relegation zone and a recent run of 12 matches without a victory - culminating in Saturday's 5-0 defeat to Osasuna - resulted in Fernandez's departure.

The 47-year-old Fernandez moved into management with Cannes before being lured back to PSG, with whom he enjoyed an impressive stint as a player.
A midfielder, Fernandez also played for Racing Club Paris and Cannes while he won 60 caps for France, even though he was born in the Spanish town of Tarifa.
Having led PSG to both domestic cups and the European Cup Winners Cup he was taken on by Bilbao where he spent four seasons before moving back to PSG.
Following his dismissal from PSG at the end of the 2002/03 season, Fernandez had short spells at Espanyol, Qatari side Al Rayyan Sports Club and Beitar Jerusalem before his appointment at Betis.
