Off-contract Socceroo James Troisi says he’s happy at Melbourne Victory and wants his “football to speak for itself” as he seeks a deal next term.
Troisi has been linked with several A-League clubs while a return to Europe is a possibility too, having put off contract talks at Victory to season’s end.
The 28-year-old is content in Melbourne, but said he’s motivated to win the best deal possible for next term, wherever that may be, with a strong finals campaign to boost his case.
“Obviously it’s in the back of your mind but it hasn’t affected my performances,” Troisi said.
“That’s first and foremost. If you let it affect your performance, it’s going to affect your future.
“If you’re not playing well it’s going to hard for you to stay or find a future club.
“I knew when I signed I only had a year contract. The most important thing was to knuckle down and play some good football which is what I’ve done.
“That’s what I’ll continue to focus on and let my football speak for itself.”
One of Adelaide-born Troisi’s options is staying at Victory where he could slot in as a marquee after Oliver Bozanic’s exit.
“I’m happy here,” Troisi said. “I’m playing some good football.
“At the end of the day, I have to wait and see what’s available for me.”
