Former Croatia international Slaven Bilic has been appointed as manager of Turkish side Besiktas.
Bilic, who has enjoyed managerial stints at clubs such as Hajduk Split and Lokomotiv Moscow, also managed the Croatian national side for six years and will move to the Inonu Stadyumu on a three-year deal.
According to a statement from the club, the contract is worth €4.8 million with the Croat likely to be tasked with an improvement on their third-place finish last season under former boss Samet Aybaba.
The 13-time Super Lig winners finished three points behind Fenerbahce and 13 points behind champions Galatasaray.
Bilic will not be able to prove his credentials on a continental stage, however, as Besiktas have been banned from next season's UEFA Europa League as part of an investigation into match fixing.
Super Lig rivals Fenerbahce were also implicated in the scandal and have been barred from European competition for the next two seasons.
