Mohamed Bin Hammam has confirmed he will run for another term as Asian Football Confederation president, paving the way for Sepp Blatter to remain unopposed as the head of FIFA.
The Qatari has been president of the AFC since 2002 but was widely expected to challenge Blatter at the FIFA elections next June.
Michel Platini was also seen a potential candidate for the FIFA presidency, but the Frenchman has since made it clear he would prefer to remain in charge of UEFA instead.
Bin Hammam has now followed suit, pledging to seek another term as the head of Asian football's governing body.
"My aim is to run for the next election of AFC president due at the start of 2011," said the 61-year-old on the AFC's official website.
"Hopefully I will get the full confidence of all the national associations."
