Central Coast striker Josh Bingham says their 2-0 win over Perth can revive the Mariners' season and help them push for a spot in the top six.
The Mariners recorded only their third victory of 2016/2017 with the win against the Glory on Saturday. The result lifted them off the bottom of the ladder, two points above Adelaide United.
Bingham believes a place in the finals is not out of reach for his team.
"The clean sheet was a huge boost for us," he said.
"Going into a tough couple of fixtures coming up I think this will will really revive our season and get us moving forward to get a few more good results in the coming weeks and hopefully push for finals football."
Goals from Bingham and Fabio Ferriera were enough for the Central Coast to down Perth. The 22-year old got the opportunity to lead the Mariners attack with Roy O'Donovan suspended.
"I've been working hard at training waiting for my opportunity and I was ready for when it came," Bingham said.
"It's football, that happens sometimes. II'm grateful I did get my opportunity, especially at home in front of a great crowd, a great atmosphere. It was a great day. It was a great feeling, it's always good to score as a centre forward, it's what you're out there to do.
"To contribute to a win, it was a very important three points for us, so I couldn't be happier."
Bingham has been with the Mariners since 2013 after joining the club's national youth team. Originally from the NSW South Coast, the centre forward came through the Dapto Dandaloo Fury and the South Coast Wolves.
Bingham said he is settled on the Central Coast and has enjoyed learning off fellow striker O'Donovan.
"It's always nice to get to Shell Harbour to see my family but up here I'm living at Blue Bay, I love it up here," he said.
"It's a great place to live, great place to play football. Since I've been up here I've only had good experiences with the coaches, players and fans. Roy and I do a lot of work on finishing after training.
"After the career he's had and continues to have, he brings a wealth of knowledge and its invaluable for a young player like me trying to come through the ranks."
The Mariners take on Adelaide United in Canberra on Sunday. Victory over the Reds could see them move to four points behind sixth-placed Newcastle.
"Adelaide are a good side and we can't underestimate them," Bingham said.
"It's such a competitive league, especially this year, and they're of course in a position where they'll be doing everything they can to get a result similar to us. I'm expecting a massive game on the weekend down in Canberra."
