The man who sent off Benfica's Augustin Binya for a knee-high lunge on Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has dubbed it "one of the worst tackles" he has seen.
Swedish referee Martin Hansson showed Binya a straight red card for his 85th-minute challenge in the Hoops' 1-0 Champions League win on Tuesday night.
UEFA have confirmed they will investigate the tackle, which Brown claimed was a deliberate attempt to break his leg.
Hansson said in the Daily Express: "I couldn't say it was the worst tackle I've ever seen because I've refereed a lot of matches and seen a lot of bad challenges.
"But it is certainly one of the worst tackles and there is no doubt in my mind it fully merited a straight red card."
