DAMARCUS Beasley believes Saturday's big day out at Hampden could provide the perfect tonic for Rangers after missing out on the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title.
The American winger could force his way into Walter Smith's plans for the Scottish Cup final against Queen of the South after making his first-team comeback at St Mirren on Monday.
And after a long spell on the sidelines with a knee injury, Beasley is hoping to finish the season with a winners' medal - on his 26th birthday.
The SPL title had been Rangers' main target and it was painful for the Light Blues to see Celtic pip them to the trophy last night.
"I'm grieving with the team as well, even though I wasn't in the squad or in the team for the past three, four, five months," said Beasley.
"It's disappointing we didn't win the championship and make it a little tougher on Celtic.
"But at the same time we have another match tomorrow, the Scottish Cup final, another way to win a championship and bring it back to Rangers, and add more silverware.
"We're excited about that.
"Everybody's still disappointed but we're upbeat about tomorrow (Saturday).
"We'll still be excited if we win tomorrow.
"We want to win trophies and this is another we can get.
"We're not just going to throw that away because we didn't win the UEFA Cup or the league.
"Obviously the league was the first and foremost thing we wanted to win. It didn't happen but now we have another chance."
Beasley's pace could be an asset for a Rangers team who lacked any real cutting edge against Aberdeen yesterday, losing 2-0 in a match they needed to win heavily.
He has made just the one appearance since November and has had to watch the team come unstuck in the SPL after a terrific run of results which had made them strong favourites.
Beasley knows supporters will expect Rangers to return stronger next season, and he claims a Scottish Cup triumph would put the team in the right frame of mind for their summer break.
"We've had a tremendous season but they still want to see improvement because we didn't win the league this year," said Beasley.
"Celtic have now won it three years in a row.
"It's definitely going to be tough, but I think tomorrow will give us momentum for next year.
"We'll still be on a high from winning the Scottish Cup final.
"Hopefully next year we can make another good run at it and take the title away from Celtic."
Beasley will be plotting England's downfall at Wembley after Saturday's game is out of the way.
The United States take on Fabio Capello's men next Wednesday in London, and Beasley, who should play, admits it would be a thrill to score at the new stadium.
"It'd be nice," he said. "I've never played at Wembley before so to play England there will be a great event, a great night and hopefully we'll get a good result."
International football will come to Beasley's rescue, as he admits he is one of the few Rangers players wishing the season could go on for longer after tomorrow's 68th game of the campaign.
"Definitely," he said. "But I have a busy summer with the national team so I'll get my games there."
