SHEFFIELD UNITED will not be rushed into putting forward their legal case for compensation in the Carlos Tevez affair.
Blades chairman Kevin McCabe revealed the club were exploring two possible avenues after losing their fight to be reinstated to the Premier League.
He told BBC Radio Sheffield: ``With evidence that we have, that we believe is of value, there are probably two courses open to us.
``Obviously both of those courses are open to financial compensation, rather than what we hoped for a few weeks and months ago. So that's what we're looking at very, very seriously.''
McCabe added: ``There is no immediate rush - we want to ensure that we do get matters in the correct sequence and that the correct case is put forward, so let's not anticipate anything until we've had those meetings.''
BRISTOL CITY could be set to recall Chris Weale from his loan spell with HEREFORD after first choice goalkeeper Adriano Basso was injured against QPR at the weekend.
Basso was involved in a 34th-minute collision with Rangers striker Dexter Blackstock during Saturday's 2-2 draw at Ashton Gate. The Brazilian managed to make it to half-time but he had to be replaced by summer signing Stephen Henderson.
Weale joined Hereford on a month's loan less than a week ago and the 24-hour recall clause in his contract could see a premature end to his stay at Edgar Street.
Robins manager Gary Johnson said: ``Basso took a kick between his stomach and his chest and my guess is that he has done ligaments in his ribcage.
``The doctor has looked at him and it is still too early to say how bad he is. If he is not fit and we have only got the one goalkeeper then we will have to bring Weale back.
``We have the option to recall him at 24 hours' notice and that is what we will do if Basso can't play.''
BARNSLEY manager Simon Davey has revealed his disappointment at being unable to field new signing Heinz Muller last weekend.
The 6ft 6in German goalkeeper signed a three-year deal at Oakwell last Thursday, but had to watch from the sidelines as Barnsley were thumped 4-1 at home by Coventry on the opening day due to red tape.
Davey said: ``It's disappointing really as all the paperwork was completed and we've had to wait two or three days for his clearance to come through.
``It had not arrived in time for the game, which was very disappointing for everybody concerned.''
CREWE striker Nicky Maynard is expected to be sidelined for three to four months after suffering a leg break on the opening day of the season.
The 20-year-old was injured during the 2-1 win over Brighton at Gresty Road on Saturday with doctors later diagnosing a fractured fibula and ankle ligament damage.
Crewe technical director Dario Gradi said: ``Nicky has fractured his fibula and will be out for a few months.
``It is a huge disappointment for us and for him, but he will come again.''
NOTTINGHAM FOREST midfielder Lewis McGugan has been ruled out of the Carling Cup clash with Chester at the Deva Stadium.
McGugan is to undergo exploratory surgery on an ankle injury and Reds boss Colin Calderwood is uncertain how long the 18-year-old will be sidelined.
And Calderwood said: ``There is a tear in the ankle cartilage but we do not know how bad the problem is until they are in there having a look.
``I could go into all the technical details but basically, if it is a new injury he could be back in three or four weeks but if it is an old injury he could be out for three months.''
CHELTENHAM goalkeeper Scott Brown has been placed on the transfer list by mutual agreement.
The 22-year-old former Wolves trainee is one of three goalkeepers within the professional ranks at Whaddon Road and he was not named in the squad for Saturday's League One opener against Gillingham, with Robins boss John Ward opting to name academy product Will Puddy on the bench as back-up to number one Shane Higgs.
MILLWALL have parted company with French midfielder Samy Mawene by mutual consent.
Mawene, 22, was signed by former boss Nigel Spackman last summer, but has now had his contract and registration cancelled after failing to make an impact under Spackman's successor Willie Donachie.
HULL boss Phil Brown has warned it could take at least a month before transfer target Henrik Pedersen is finally fit and available for action.
Pedersen trained with the Tigers last week and agreed a terms but the deal fell through due to an Achilles injury which has plagued the former Bolton forward since last season.
``There's a possibility Henrik (Pedersen) will be coming in and will hopefully put pen to paper,'' said the Hull boss.
``But that's not an immediate answer - that could take four to five weeks before Henrik's fit."
WYCOMBE admit they have received a number of enquiries about Jermaine Easter but insist they have received no firm bids for their star striker.
Easter, who rose to prominence last season with his goalscoring exploits in Wycombe's run to the Carling Cup semi-finals, has been linked with moves to Swindon and MK Dons before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
But managing director Steve Hayes insists Easter remains central to Wanderers' promotion hopes this term, and told the club's official website www.wycombewanderers.co.uk: "We have not had a single offer for Jermaine.
``It's true a number of clubs have phoned me about him, but that's as far as it has gone.
``We would have to listen if a genuine offer came in because every player has his price, but we certainly don't want to lose him as he's a vital part of our promotion plans for the season.''
