FIFA president Sepp Blatter insists England should tackle the issue of too many foreign players in the Premier League after their failure to qualify for Euro 2008.
Blatter is pushing for a worldwide restriction to limit the number of foreign players on the pitch to five for one side.
His views have been supported by the likes of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, sports minister Gerry Sutcliffe and Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard, but opposed by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Blatter, speaking in Durban ahead of the 2010 World Cup qualifying draw, said: "This discussion was started in England by Alex Ferguson and then Wenger came in, even the sports minister and others like Gerrard and company.
"I think it is time that this item should now be tackled very seriously."
