Feyenoord coach Gertjan Verbeek is not impressed with midfielder Nick Hofs, who missed Sunday's pre-season friendly with Celtic because of a blister on his foot.
Hofs refused to let a doctor treat a recurring blister and it worsened to such an extent that he became ill.
"Hofs has had the ailment for some time but didn't want a doctor to get rid of it," Verbeek told www.elfvoetbal.nl. "That resulted in an even worse injury.
"On Friday against Borussia Dortmund it suddenly became much worse and he had a fever because the blister was inflamed.
"A footballer must always let someone help him with a blister. And certainly he should never walk on it."
Verbeek also denied reports that Hofs, who has been told by Feyenoord he can find a new club, was negotiating a move abroad on Sunday, adding: "He trained at 4.30pm and then watched our match."
