The former Dynamo Kiev star said the results from matchday one will not leave Les Bleus needing to go all out in attack, as they could still progress should they lose to the co-hosts.

"The group standings will not force France to play attacking football. Even if they lose, they still have a chance to qualify," Blokhin said at a press conference.

"I don't think they will play particularly attacking football against us. The midfielders and strikers will always be a big threat, though. (Samir) Nasri was the best player against England. I don't know where he will play against us because he is very versatile.

"I think England and France are the favourites in the group. If (Laurent) Blanc said France are an outsider he did not mean it. They have great young players.

"I said after (beating) Sweden, we haven't achieved anything yet. My main task is to give strength to the players and make it possible that we get through the group stage."

Ukraine sit top of Group D with three points from one game, while France share second spot with England following their 1-1 draw.
