Blokhin admitted he was surprised to see both sides 'walking' and putting men behind the ball during their opening game on Monday.

"I learnt a lot of new things about England and France. I saw both teams walking slowly on the pitch during the game and also saw teams with eight players at the back in the defence," Blokhin said.

"I think this has improved the discipline in the teams."

England and France played out a 1-1 draw at Donbass Arena in Donetsk, while Ukraine shot to the top of the group after edging Sweden 2-1 in their first fixture.

Andriy Shevchenko netted a brace for the hosts after Sweden stalwart Zlatan Ibrahimovic had opened the scoring at Kiev's Olympic Stadium.

Ukraine face France next in Donetsk on Friday, while Sweden meet England in Kiev.

"We shouldn't have the feeling of victory so far," Blokhin said.

"We've won just a single game but if we lose the two other games, then all this effort will be just wasted."
