Sydney - home for the first time since winning their second straight premiership - started slowly before sinking the Reds in another record-breaking turn.

Bobo's double makes it 26 goals in 26 games for the 33-year-old Brazilian, while the club's overall tally of 63  - with one game to go - equals Melbourne City of 2015/16.

It caps a wonderful week for Graham Arnold's men who steamrolled Suwon 4-1 in the AFC Champions League on Tuesday.

"We broke another record but we're not done yet," Bobo told Fox Sports post-match. "We have one more game then the fiinals.

"We played well tonight - I'm proud of the boys because we worked hard to get this result."

The Sky Blues have struggled to balance their Champions League and A-League commitments but it all came together this week.

Bobo added: "Yes it is good, we try to mix the players and I think we did well in Korea and today. The finals are the focus now."

The Sky Blues opened with two sublime headers.

Adrian Mierzejewski played in Bobo who turned provider, crossing to Matt Simon for a neat finish on the stroke of half time. Mierzejewski then curled in a flat cross for Bobo who dispatched a clinical header on 59 minutes.

The record-breaking goal came just seven minutes later as the Brazilian latched onto a deflected shot, rifling it home off his left boot.

The result puts Sydney on 61 points, 14 points clear of second-placed Newcastle Jets with one game remaining in the regular season.

Meanwhile the Reds have lost their bid for a home final after securing a fifth-placed finish.
