The FFA Cup Final rematch ended with Sydney taking home all the points after losing their first regular season game last week.

The result moves Sydney 11 points clear at the summit, while City remains third but may drop down the table depending on the round's results.

Bobo opened the scoring the spot in the 24th minute after Manny Muscat brought down Filip Holosko in the box but Nick Fitzgerald equalised with a screamer moments later.

City went down to 10-men with six minutes to go before half-time after Muscat fouled Alex Brosque, with referee Jared Gillett brandishing his second yellow.

A Brandon O’Neill free-kick scorcher in the 57th minute got Sydney back in lead before Bobo iced the game 10 minutes later after Milos Ninkovic’s sublime throughball.

Fitzgerald enjoyed a good first half and in the eighth minute he was on the end of an impressive long ball from Bruno Fornaroli but his cross was too deep for the forwards running into the box.

City contained the Sky Blues and the first real chance they had was in a set piece 16 minutes in when Jordy Buijs’ free kick was cleared over Thomas Sorensen’s crossbar by Ivan Franjic.

But Sydney would get their first shot and goal of the game after Muscat brought down Holosko in the box and bought a yellow ticket for his troubles. Bobo had no problem capitalising from the spot.

And a minute later almost straight from the kick off, Fornaroli teed up Fitzgerald who cut past Josh Brillante, whose foot caused the ball to bobble, with the winger volleying it past Danny Vukovic.

At half-time Tim Cahill was replaced by youngster Ruon Tongyik, after Muscat saw red after his second yellow card.

The Sky Blues began the second half strongly. Substitute Ruon Tongyik gave away a handball on the edge of the box before the hour mark and it proved costly with Brandon O’Neill scoring his second goal of the season, both being from set-pieces.

In the 67th minute, City were punished by Sydney as Ninkovic played through Bobo who sealed the win for the Sky Blues.

City continued to try to pull back a goal with Fernando Brandan and Fornaroli coming close but to no avail.

David Carney almost made 4-1 with Sorensen tipping it wide and now the Sky Blues are on 50 points on the table, 11 in front of Melbourne Victory who will play Adelaide United at home on Saturday night.
