The United States international quit St Etienne last week and made his debut the following night in the Europa League play-offs first leg against Maribor.

The defender has not even seen Ibrox yet and only visited Rangers' Murray Park training complex this week but insists the move to the Glasgow giants was a "no-brainer."

Bocanegra said: "I didn't need to look at anything before I came here. Being here now, the facilities at the training ground are fantastic.

"Everyone has made me feel welcome. I spoke to Maurice Edu and DaMarcus Beasley about the atmosphere at Ibrox. It was a no-brainer for me.

"When Rangers came calling, I could not say no. It's a big club, it's a famous club with a lot of history.

"I want to come here and win titles. I want to have a chance to win silverware.

"For a footballer, you don't get too many chances like that and Rangers presented an unbelievable opportunity for me to do that."

Bocanegra is now relishing the prospect of tomorrow night's second leg against Maribor at Ibrox after UEFA today rejected a complaint by the Slovenians over his eligibility for the first leg.

He said: "For me, personally, it's my first home game in front of the fans at Ibrox.

"I've heard about the atmosphere and I've heard about the fans so I'm really excited about that part of it.

"As a club, it's a hugely important game. I know how seriously they take their football and how much it means to move on in Europe and do well in these competitions. It's a really important game for us."

Rangers are trailing 2-1 from the first leg, having squandered a half-time lead in Slovenia.

Bocanegra added: "I don't think it's a case of blaming the forwards or the defenders - as a team, as a whole, we could have done better to manage the game.

"We were winning 1-0 at half-time and we could have been a bit more clever with the ball in the second half and tried to kill the game off a little more.

"As a team, we felt we didn't play as well as we could have and we just need to get the confidence back.

"It was a good win at the weekend at Motherwell for the guys so hopefully that brings a bit more confidence into the team."
