Kisel struck a powerful shot just over the bar in the 38th minute and three minutes later Keller had perhaps the best chance of the first half, heading over the bar after a Sydney corner.

The Mariners would have gone into the break happy to be on level terms but disappointed with their performance. Sydney created enough but lacked the finishing touch in front of goal.

The Mariners came into the game more then in the second half but both sides still failed to impress in front of the goals.

The final 15 minutes were without doubt the most exciting of the match with both sides pushing forward in a desperate bid to open the scoring.
