Aurelio Vidmar has revealed that the former Central Coast Mariners defender would most likely be the one to partner Robert Cornthwaite at centre back as Fyfe serves a one match suspension for receiving his second yellow card in United's last outing against Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

Boogaard has played just three minutes in United's opening four AFC Champions League matches, but despite the limited game time and the high level of pressure to perform as the Reds aim to maintain their place on top of Group H, Vidmar has no doubt Boogaard would come in and not miss a beat, if he gets the nod.

"I think so," Vidmar answered on whether Boogaard would probably replace Fyfe.

"We've probably got a couple of options there, but we think Nigel is certainly a very solid player and he's fit in quite well since he's been here, so he has an opportunity to slot straight in."

Boogaard is no stranger to the continental stage, having made five appearances for the Mariners in the 2009 ACL. Although minutes on the field have not been as forthcoming for him in this campaign, he has patiently been biding his time and waiting for his chance since he arrived in Adelaide on a two year deal.

One option still unavailable for Vidmar is key defender Mark Rudan, despite the former Sydney FC captain returning to training with the main group this week. While Rudan's successful recovery from a calf injury he suffered in a National Youth League encounter back in February is positive news for the club, Vidmar says he still needs a considerable amount of conditioning before being match fit again.

Regardless of which way Vidmar decides to go with his line up on Tuesday night in Korea, the Reds will be hoping to continue an impressive defensive record against the Steelers, which has seen them yet to concede a goal against the reigning ACL champions in all of their three previous meetings.
