Western Sydney Wanderers defender Aritz Borda has accepted a three-game ban following a foul on Melbourne City striker Bruno Fornaroli at AAMI Park on Friday.
Borda was given his marching orders on 30 minutes after he lifted his forearm to block Fornaroli. City won the match 1-0.
The Spaniard will now miss Saturday's Sydney derby against the Sky Blues at Allianz Stadium and won't be available for selection until February 4 when the Wanderers travel across the ditch to take on Wellington Phoenix.
The Match Review Panel ruled Borda had committed the offence of “assault on a player (e.g. violent conduct when not challenging for the ball), including an attempted assault on a player”.
The minimum sanction for the offence is two matches (the mandatory match suspension plus an additional match), however the MRP proposed a three-game sanction.
The 32-year-old decided not to appeal the ban.
