His gueat appearance at half-time along with the rest of the LA Galaxy squad and manager Ruud Gullit was the highlight of a drab match.

Thrills and spills might have been in short supply at Sydney Football Stadium, but neither side was complaining after a hard fought 0-0 draw that maintained both teams' unbeaten runs.

Roar had to finish the game with ten men after Andrew Packer was sent for an 82nd minute early shower following his second yellow card of the game for a desperate tackle on Alex Brosque.

There was further bad news for Roar with Michael Zullo (thigh) and Craig Moore (calf) both withdrawn through injury but the extent of the damage won’t be known for at least 24 hours until the pair can be assessed by the club’s doctors in Brisbane tomorrow.

Sydney striker Michael Bridges had a twinge but coach John Kosmina dismissed it as insignificant after the match.

After draws elsewhere, the result maintained Queensland’s grip on outright second place on the ladder while Sydney still can't get into finals contention as the title race hots up.

Despite the return to fitness of Danny Tiatto, Frank Farina largely kept faith with the side that defeated Champions Melbourne Victory last week, with the only change being the return of Michael Zullo in place of Marcinho.

Sydney left Juninho on the bench with striker David Zdrilic moved into right midfield.

The opening 20 minutes was a drab affair with both sides turning possession over far too easily and there was little in the way of goalmouth action to rouse the fans apart from an Alex Brosque free-kick for the home side and a somewhat tame strike from Roar’s Michael Zullo.

Sydney came closest to taking the lead when Steve Corica’s 27th minute corner was met by Mark Rudan who delivered a solid goal-bound header but had to watch in frustration as it looped onto the crossbar.

Ten minutes before the break it was Roar’s turn to go close when Reinaldo just failed to connect at close range with a cross from Robbie Kruse after the trickster gave Rudan the slip in the box.

Afte the two sides went into the sheds, Beckham and co took to the field to a mixed reaction from fans including some boos and jeers.

They made a swift exit from the stadium immediately afterwards, but Beckham hung on to sign autographs for some waiting fans outside the stadium.

Both sides started the second period with renewed purpose and Reinaldo had a shot blocked on the line inside the first minute as the visitors tried to take the game to their hosts.

Roar were dealt a blow however when Michael Zullo hobbled off after 52 minutes with Marcinho his replacement.

With 20 minutes remaining Farina introduced Simon Lynch for Reinaldo and soon after Danny Tiatto entered the fray for skipper Craig Moore who succumbed to a calf injury.

There were few chances for the remainder of an uninspiring encounter but for Queensland it was all about securing yet another valuable point on the road before the visit of Newcastle Jets to Suncorp Stadium next Friday night.

For Sydney, it's made their task all the harder as they run out of rounds to force their way into the top four for finals contention.
