Borrello now has three goals in four games for FC Kaiserslautern, in addition to four assists notched early in the season, as a recent swap to left midfield has seen a sparkling goal return from the Australian.

Borrello now seems favourite for a Socceroos call-up for friendlies against Norway and Colombia, and could follow the career progression of Mat Leckie in securing a first division move in the off-season.

Kaiserslautern are five points adrift of safety in Germany's second tier, with the Australian making 15 appearances this term. Thomas Broich recently said that Borrello had "reached a new level" since moving to Germany.
