Mariners coach Paul Okon complained his side has borne the brunt of bad decisions in the early rounds of the campaign and last night's 1-1 draw with the Wanderers at Spotless Stadium was no exception.

Replays confirmed that an attempted cross in the area by Trent Buhagiar on 86 minutes came off the arm of Western Sydney defender Jack Clisby and out for a corner.

A penalty could have given the Mariners a 2-1 lead late in the match and sealed their first three points of the season.

Bosnich said on Fox Sports: “Hand in a completely unnatural position, that is a penalty, I’m sorry.

“But this is one of the reasons that I’m always calling for a fifth official — and everyone laughs at me — behind the goal.”

“Because if a fifth official’s there, he sees that quite clearly, that is a handball.”

The former Socceroo added: “Sometimes on the assistant referee’s side — and she was right on that side as well — where the arm is and the body can be covering that as well,” he said.

“But if you have the fifth official right there, he can see exactly that view.

“(It’s an) extra pair of eyes, that’s all.”

Meanwhile Okon lamented "some bad decisions" that had hurt the club..

"All I'll say is I think in the four games we've had, some bad decisions have gone against us that have cost us points," he said.

"They do tell me - because I'm an inexperienced coach - that over the season it balances itself up, so I can't wait for that."
