However, the Greek FA is still in hot pursuit of the teenage Aussie keeper who has already played a number of games for Greece U/19s in their Euro qualifiers due to his dual heritage.

The Malaysia tournament is believed to be a four team event around May 12-24.

But the Greek FA’s camp is between the 17th and 30th of May in preparation for three U/19 Euro qualifying matches on the 25-29th of May.

And Bouzanis is happily prepared to miss the Greek matches if called up by Arnold for Malaysia.

“I’d say he’ll miss this Greek camp and join the Olyroos if selected,” Bouzanis’s agent Terry Palapanis told au.fourfourtwo.com today.

“I think that’s the way he’ll go. Then hopefully he can show Arnie and the coaching set up how good or bad he is.

“I spoke to Dean briefly on the way to training [at Liverpool]. I told him what Arnie had said yesterday and he said, ‘Well, I’ve got to get picked first. Until I get picked though, there’s nothing really to talk about’.

“What he’s saying is pick me and I’ll be there,” said Palapanis. “But he’s definitely happy there’s interest.

“If he gets selected for Malaysia then he can go there.

"Possibly, on his way back to England, he may stop over in Greece for a day as a courtesy to them [the Greek FA].”

Olyroo supremo Graham Arnold said yesterday: “Dean has been looked at. Tony Franken [Socceroo goalkeeping coach] has spoken to him as has Pim Verbeek.

“Dean will be brought into the mix if he agrees to the Malaysian tournament.”

“I’ll still go over to meet the Greek FA in May,” added Palapanis. “I’ll keep my word with them. The Greek FA rang me last night briefly but I didn’t call them back.

“They’ll ring me back today so I need to tell them something.”

Clouding the issue is that it’s unclear if playing for Australia at U/23 level ties a player to Australia. Palapanis is currently seeking official clarification from FIFA and the PFA as to the rules of eligibility.

“Obviously there’s interest also in [Reading’s] Adam Federici which is good for Adam,” added Palapanis. "Dean’s on the radar but there are plenty of others on the radar. Are there six keepers on the radar? Two?

“As long as there is a fair process, which there seems to be now. I’ve had discussions with the FFA and I’m quite happy with the way things are going.”

Bouzanis, 17, has recovered from glandular fever and had his first full training session in a fortnight earlier this week.

In other news, 19-year-old AIS-based Young Socceroo Peter Cvetanovski begins training on July 1 with his new German club Borussia Moenchengladbach.

And another Young Socceroo, Matthew Jurman, is currently trialling at English Premier League club Sunderland.
