Ollie Bozanic endured criticism from fans at the beginning of the 2016/17 A-League season but is now loving his current form for Melbourne Victory.
It has been over 18 months since Bozanic has worn the Socceroos kit when Australia narrowly defeated Kyrgyzstan 2-1 away in June, 2015.
Bozanic admits extra work is now needed since arriving with Victory on a marquee contract.
The 27-year-old is excited for where the club is heading as Victory sit second on the table with a game in hand and looking to continue its impressive form away to Adelaide United on Saturday.
“I’m really enjoying it at the moment, we win then we work hard again for the next one so enjoying my game at the moment but working really hard at it,” Bozanic said.
“It’s been an unchanged side (past four games), everyone in the squad is really pushing hard and training has been really intense.
“Everyone’s working extremely hard to be in the starting XI, I think that’s really showing in our games and everyone’s pushing for it.
“We’ve been working really well together (Carl Valeri) with Jimmy Troisi in the middle so I’m really happy with our midfield.”
The Victory narrowly defeated United 2-1 away in October courtesy of a Marco Rojas winner.
And with the Reds holding a firm record against Victory in the past, Bozanic said he was surprised by their opponent’s slump this season.
“On our side we hope previous form doesn’t go against us, we’ve been working really hard, especially this last month and we hope we can take that good form into the weekend,” he said.
“Of course I’m surprised, even they have struggled so far it doesn’t mean it’s not going to be a tough game and we believe 100 per cent it’ll be a tough game.
“We’re ready for a fight and also for us to play good football against them.”
