Ex Young Socceroo striker Jay Lucas looked to have stole the show from Bosnich - tipped for a possible move to Norwich City - with a classy set-piece to hand the Eagles a 69th minute lead.

But a minute later a brilliant through ball from former Sydney FC youth team player Chris Triantis found the dangerous Tolgay Ozbey who ran through the Eagles defence and coolly slotted home past Nenad Vekic.

Olympic could have won the game minutes later had it not been for desperate defence by the Eagles who cleared the ball off the goalline.

In front of 1763 fans at Belmore Oval, Bosnich pulled off a brilliant stop to deny Daniel Willoughby a first half goal and while not troubled regularly, the 37-year-old showed glimpses of his glorious past with a competent performance.

He's been linked with a possible return to top flight footy after talks with Ian Crook hinted at a potential move back to the UK to join the Canaries.

But it was promising Eagles keeper Nenad Vekic who wrote his own headlines in this afternoon's match, with a superb save to deny Triantis' first half penalty from the spot.

For Olympic, Triantis and Ozbey were constant dangers and for the Eagles, keeper Vekic looks to be a star in the making.

The Eagles also featured former Mariner Andre Gumprecht in midfield.
