BRAD Jones must perform to a consistently high level in both body and mind if he is to mature into Australia's number one custodian says Mark Schwarzer.
Schwarzer has no plans to hang the gloves up just yet but is clearly impressed by the potential of former Middlesbrough teammate Jones.
Of his successor at 'Boro, Schwarzer said compatriot Brad Jones has the talent to become a very good goalkeeper for club and country.
"But it's one thing having the ability and the next thing is going out there and performing week-in, week-out," Schwarzer said.
"If he can overcome the mental side of things he's going to give a great shout of becoming a very good goalkeeper and staking his claim to be Australia's No.1."
Jones has been in impressive form in the last few weeks despite Middlesbrough's less than impressive campaign so far in the Premier League.
