The 36-year-old left Feyenoord in August despite having helped them win a drought-breaking title in 2017 and being contracted, to join eight-time Saudi champions Al Nassr on a two-year deal.

Jones hasn’t missed a game with Al Nassr winning every game since his move, sitting top of the Pro League table after five rounds.

“From my point of view, the team has performed well,” Jones said.

“We’ve had seven matches and seven wins so I couldn’t wish for a better start on that front.

“Life in Saudi is good. My family has moved over and the kids are in school over there. It’s gone really well.”

Jones has also been impressed by the standard of the Saudi top flight.

“It’s a good standard,” Jones said.

“This year they’ve changed the foreign rule from three players to eight players so a lot of foreigners have come in.

“The league has definitely grown from it.”

The relaxation of the foreigner limitations on Saudi clubs, means Jones isn’t the only Australian playing in the Pro League nowadays.

Rhys Williams, Jack Duncan and Mathew Jurman all joined Saudi Arabian clubs in the off-season.

“I haven’t played Maty yet,” Jones said. “I’ve played against Rhys Williams and Jack Duncan.

“It’s always good to catch up after the game. It’s a bit better from my point of view that we won the game against those guys.

“It’s a friendly rivalry, you want to get the win.

“For me, they’re all defensive players so I don’t get to see them much during the game. I’d rather they’re the busy ones.”

Jones is in the Socceroos camp in Dubai ahead of Tuesday morning’s (3:30am AEDT) friendly against Kuwait.
