Brad Jones wants another shot at the English Premier League when his contract with Feyenoord ends next year.
Jones joined Dutch side Feyenoord in July after six months at fellow Eredivisie side NEC. The Australian goalkeeper was released by Bradford City in October last year, ending a 16-year stint in the UK.
Jones originally moved from Perth to Middlesbrough as a 17-year old. He spent 11 years with Boro, spending time on loan at Shelbourne, Stockport County, Rotherham United, Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday, before a five-year spell at Liverpool.
“I had options in Holland because the six months at NEC had gone so well,” he told BBC.
“It’s been a fantastic move for me. First and foremost I’d like to make up for last time. This year we’ve got a massive chance to put Feyenoord back on the to of Dutch football. After that, we’ll have to see.”
The 34-year old signed for Dutch giants De club aan de Maas after impressing at NEC last season. Jones has made 17 appearances for Feyenoord this season, accruing nine cleansheets, with the club sitting on top of the Eredivisie.
The shot-stopper, who has earned four caps for the Socceroos, had five years with the Reds but only made 11 first-team appearances in that period. Jones is keen on another stint in England’s top flight.
“I think the Premier League is the pinnacle,” the Bayswater City product said.
“For most players that’s where you want to be. In football you never know. I’ll try to make the most of whatever comes.”
