Titus Bramble and Matt Kilgallon are set to leave Sunderland having both failed to gain new contracts.
The pair both joined the club in 2010 but, having helped them retain their Premier League status this season, will be allowed to leave as manager Paolo Di Canio reshapes his squad.
Di Canio has made no secret of his desire to make drastic changes at the club, recently describing some of his squad as "arrogant".
Bramble made 51 appearances during his three years at the Stadium of Light but did not feature after the Italian was appointed as Martin O'Neill's successor.
His last outing came against Manchester United in March, when he inadvertently deflected a Robin van Persie effort into his own net as Sunderland lost 1-0.
Kilgallon, meanwhile, only featured once after the Italian arrived, and had made just 26 appearances since joining the club from Sheffield United.
