The Villarreal striker, who netted in the 1-0 win over England on Saturday, gave the South Americans the lead after only four minutes before Oman defender Hassan Mudhafar put through his own net the 60th minute.

Oman had the first chance of the game when striker Hassan Rabia's powerful shot went just past the left upright.

However, it was Brazil who opened the scoring when Luis Fabiano broke the offside trap, burst into the area and unleashed a powerful shot which was saved by Ali Al Habsi, but Nilmar was in the right place to capitalise on the rebound.

Nilmar thought that he scored his second goal of the night in the 11th minute when he headed home a cross from the right, but the goal was disallowed as the striker was ruled offside.

Kaka should have doubled Brazil's advantage after 15 minutes but shot into the side netting, while at the other end Fawzi Bashir's shot was saved by Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

Brazil stepped up their pressure towards the end of the first half and they should have scored a second, but Al Habsi saved from Kaka.

The Oman goalkeeper came to his side's rescue again in the 43rd minute as he pushed Fabiano's header over the crossbar and then blocked a Nilmar effort.

Oman started the second half brightly and might have levelled within two minutes through Qasim Said, but his shot was saved by Julio Cesar.

Instead the Brazilians doubled their advantage at the hour mark as Mudhafar headed a cross past Al Habsi and into his own net.

Oman had a chance to pull a goal back after 72 minutes when Hassan Rabia made his way into the area and tried his luck from an acute angle, but his effort was saved by Julio Cesar.

Brazil should have scored a third when Porto striker Hulk had a sight of goal in the 82nd minute, but his shot went wide.
