Kaka picked up a new foot injury in AC Milan's victory over Siena in Serie A at the weekend.

It is the second time Kaka has suffered a foot problem this year, but Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) spokesman Rodrigo Paiva reports coach Dunga and doctor Jose Luiz Runco are hoping the midfielder will recover in time.

Paiva told Radio Tupi: "I spoke to Dunga and Dr Runco, and they are more optimistic than yesterday.

"The player has not asked the CBF to withdraw him from the squad, something that would happen in case of a more serious injury.

"The players will join the team next Tuesday so we'll wait until the middle of the current week to see his development.

"We'd rather believe everything is going to be all right, because Kaka has told us he is really looking forward to playing in these matches. This is an important time in the World Cup qualification."

Brazil, second in the South American qualifying zone, travel to Ecuador on March 29 before taking on Peru in Porto Alegre on April 1.
