The presence of Manchester United and Chelsea in the Champions League final has shown the strength of the English top flight.

And the 32-year-old defender confirmed that the league has been a hot topic of discussion by members of Dunga's squad when they have met up.

Gilberto said: "When we are together with the Brazil national team, we talk about the Premier League, especially with Gilberto Silva who knows the league the best.

"Juan, even Ronaldinho and Kaka, we have had chats about the Premier League."

Gilberto arrived at White Hart Lane from Hertha Berlin in January and expects more Brazilians to arrive in England as the reputation of the Premier League grows.

He continued: "The Premier League has been improving for the last few years and with more Brazilian players coming here there is more openings for them to come.

"Before people used to think Brazilians wouldn't be too good in this style of playing, they wouldn't adapt or it would be difficult for them in the climate.

"Now some of them have come here and have been doing well, adapting well so this will open it more for other players.

"I'm sure players like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Kaka - there is no reason for them not to come to play here.

"We talk about the English league being the most difficult because most of the best players are here and everyone is fighting for everything.

"In Spain it's Real Madrid and Barcelona, in Italy it's AC Milan, Inter Milan and maybe Juventus.

"In England there are four or five - Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Liverpool, even Tottenham if you like."

One Brazilian linked with a move to Spurs is goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, although PSV Eindhoven chairman Frits Schuitema said: "We don't want to see Gomes go at all."

Gomes was playing in Gilberto's Spurs debut, a disastrous 45 minutes that saw him at fault for PSV's winner before getting taken off at half-time.

The 32-year-old blames himself for insisting he was fit despite a calf injury and he has since been brought back gradually into contention - last week against Bolton was his first Premier League start and he is hoping to play against Reading this weekend.

The Brazil international took time to get used to driving on the other side of the road but otherwise has adapted to life in London and the different language.

Head coach Juande Ramos is Spanish and there is a French contingent in the squad but English is the language used in the dressing room.

"In the dressing room we try to keep English as the main language, then everyone can understand and communicate, and if they want to improve their English they can do so," Gilberto said.

Ramos has been criticised by Younes Kaboul this week for a lack of communication, but Gilberto added: "The manager speaks with me every day. He knows what I can do for the team."

Meanwhile Ramos has been linked with a move for Valencia striker David Villa but reports in Spain have suggested the striker is targeting a switch to Real Madrid.

"There are many clubs interested in Villa, but Valencia decides his future," his agent, Jose Luis Tamargo, told Marca.
