The man named in reports as Lago de Melo Rios is said to have landed on a young girl named, Giovana Santos Araujo, softening his blow.
Luckily for the pair both escaped serious injury after both were rushed to two different hospitals.
Reports say that de Melo Rios had climbed the railing of the stands before losing his gripping and falling below, cheating death and only suffering a broken femur.
While the young girl is said to have avoided any serious injury, there has been no update on her condition.
Rios' mother told local media: "His girlfriend called me and said she had seen it on the internet."
"She saw that someone had fallen in the stadium. She called him straight away and someone answered the phone saying that it was him who had fallen from the top tier of the Morumbi, just minutes after it had happened."
The game between Sao Paulo and Gremio finished 0-0.
