Milligan spent a few days with the team last week and was put through his paces by the German side's coaching staff.

Today the club admitted they were pleased with what they saw - and are now looking at potentially signing the former Sydney FC star.

They admitted their first priority though was to discover if Olyroo skipper Milligan could get a work visa in Germany.

Werder Bremen football manager Klaus Allofs told au.fourfourtwo.com: "He made a good impression on us and right now we are checking if we can sign him.

"If there is a possibility, we finally will decide if we are going to do that."

Milligan was yesterday warned by Pim Verbeek that his future in the Australia side is in jeopardy unless he can get a club and regular game time.

"I cannot keep selecting a player who is just doing some tests in Europe, or somewhere else," said Verbeek.

"He is a talented young player, at a good age, but he needs to sort things out. Hopefully he will find a club soon."

Milligan is currently believed to be in discussions with another club in Europe.

A Bremen insider added: "Mark Milligan does not practise with Werder anymore. He has left for another club now."
