Admitting that the Socceroos were a little lucky to have beaten Iraq 1-0 on Sunday in Brisbane, Bresciano said that playing for a draw in this week's match was not an option and that it was important for the Socceroos to book their spot in the next round of qualifying as soon as possible.

"I think we want to qualify as early as we can. If we can get a win, mathematically, that can get us through to the next stage that would be even better for us. But, like I said it's gonna be tough, but we're gonna go there to win," he said.

The Iraqi players looked devastated after Sunday's game, crashing to the ground at the final whistle as if their World Cup hopes were dashed. However, while Iraq has just one point from three games, it is just three points from second-placed Qatar who drew with China on Monday.

Bresciano said that while the Iraqis were clearly wounded by the defeat, he doesn't think the Australians have broken their spirits yet.

"I hope it is (their spirit broken), but I don't think it will be. Dubai is their last chance. I think they are going to give everything they can. We maybe hurt them a little but, but, they're injured not fully gone," he said.

"I think they are going to be more desperate. They were desperate tonight. They are on their last legs. Their last chance is in Dubai. It's gonna be much tougher for us.

"The situation they'd been through, they came (to Brisbane) to prove a point. They did very well. We expected them to come out and give everything they can, they are Asian champions, they have quality."

Bresciano said the Middle East heat will be a major factor in the game despite the game being played at night.

"The heat will favour them, they are used of it, they play in those conditions every day," he said.

Meanwhile, Bresciano is far from panicked about the Australian team's performance in Brisbane and believes that the team are just taking their time to adapt to new coach Pim Verbeek.

"I think its early stages, new coach, new players coming through. So, I think the more time we get together, the more camps, the more games. I think there's only room for improvement," he said.

"I think the team's structured pretty good. I think in a team there's always room for improvement, starting from the back line going up to the attackers."
