SOCCEROO Mark Bresciano is expecting a tough clash when Australia takes on Uzbekistan in the crucial World Cup qualifier next week.
Without knowing too much about the nation, Bresciano is anticipating an intimidating crowd and knows Australia will be up against it, but insists that it hasn't had a bearing on the Socceroos' preparation.
"We know its gonna be a tough game, they've done extremely well in the Asian Cup," Bresciano said.
"They play more of a European style of football so I think its something that will be better for the team to play against.
"I've never been there before, so I don't know what the crowd will be like, we're expecting a hostile crowd but it won't play much part in our preparation and our game."
The Uzbekistan clash in Tashkent is the first of eight matches for Australia, and with three of the last four matches at home, the Aussies will want to secure an early away victory or at least grab a point.
Despite the favourable draw, Bresciano insisted players are firmly focused on the upcoming matches and have not even begun to think about the World Cup in South Africa.
"I don't think we've got that far yet, we're just focused on these games coming up, starting in Uzbekistan and hopefully getting a good result there," he said.
"We're just focused on this group stage and trying to qualify and we'll take it from there.
"Most of the boys are not even talking about the World Cup, we're mainly just focusing on these games and hopefully we do qualify for 2010."
The top two nations from the group qualify for the World Cup, with the third ranked team to play in a play-off match, but Bresciano and his team-mates want to qualify directly and have no intentions of coming third.
"That's our aim, get in their direct, first or second place in this group stage ...We're not even considering third place," he said.
Australia will prepare for the Uzbekistan clash with a friendly match against Holland on Saturday and Bresciano is looking forward to playing against a top quality side.
He added: "It's good for us, they're giving us a hand to prepare the best way we can.
"I think it's a bonus for us having these connections and being able to play a friendly match against Holland which is a quality side in their home town so it's just beneficial to us."
The lineup for the two matches is unclear at the moment, but as expected Scott McDonald will definitely miss the Holland clash and is in doubt for the qualifier. Bresciano remains confident that whoever steps in will get the job done.
"We do have our backups, we do have players ready to play and ready to perform," he said.
"I think it's a great opportunity for other players to have a chance and to play and show their stuff."
