Reports linking the 32-year-old Australian midfielder with the Al Nasr exit door had been rife all off-season throughout the UAE press.

And former Lazio and Palermo man Bresciano confirmed the move on Twitter on Friday evening (Australian time), stating he's excited about the switch.

"Reports are correct I'm moving to Al Gharaffa I'm very excited to start this new part of my football journey," Bresciano said.

Al Nasr, who had previously denied a move was on the cards, have also confirmed the switch, with Bresciano formally requesting a release from the final year of his contract with the club to facilitate the transfer.

The club's technical committee head Abdullah Al Bannai confirmed the news and said they were now looking for a replacement Asian player ahead of their 2013 AFC Champions League.

Al Gharafa, who finished the 2011-12 Qatari season in sixth, are seven-time domestic champions.

Bresciano joins Aussies Sasa Ognenovski and Matt Spiranovic playing their club football in Qatar.
