Stefano Colantuono has been appointed as the new coach of Palermo, according to the Sicilian club's president Maurizio Zamparini.
Colantuono has had an excellent season with Atalanta whom he led to an eighth-place finish in Serie A just a year after promotion from Serie B.
And Zamparini has now identified the 44-year-old coach as the man to lead Palermo into next year's UEFA Cup.
Interviewed by Radio Radio, Zamparini said: "I think my director of sport Rino Foschi has today got Colantuono to sign a contract for next season.
"Foschi, who knows his football, is convinced he (Colantuono) is a young and emerging coach and that he is ideal for Palermo."
Palermo finished fifth in Serie A and qualified for the UEFA Cup, although for much of the season it looked as though they would make the Champions League.
