Melbourne Victory have called on Mark Bresciano to help them find their next coach after Kevin Muscat's exit this week, the club revealed today.
A five-person selection panel has been hand picked by the club, which also includes newly appointed FFA technical director Rob Sherman.
He and Bresciano are joined by Victory chairman Anthony Di Pietro , CEO Trent Jacobs and the club's general manger of football operations, Paul Trimboli.
Chairman Anthony Di Pietro stressed the importance of the appointment – which will still need to be signed off by the Victory board – for the football club and its long-term future
“We have assembled a quality selection panel, who will run a thorough recruitment process considering both internal and external views, which we believe is important," said Di Pietro.
“Led by our CEO Trent Jacobs and GM Football Paul Trimboli, the panel will guide us to ensure we appoint a candidate that meets the values and expectations of our club.
“Mark Bresciano and Paul Trimboli are both former Socceroos who know what is required to build a successful football culture, and provide the panel firsthand knowledge and experience with the on-field performance requirements for the role.
“Rob Sherman is one of the most experienced technical directors and coach educators in the country, and from his time at Victory, he understands our playing philosophy. We are delighted to have him involved with the process.
“The person appointed to the role will ultimately be accountable for delivering exceptional football results that will drive our vision of leading the way on-and-off the field and we’re excited about taking the next step at Melbourne Victory.”
