Sydney haven't conceded a goal for 479 minutes and if they can hold out Gold Coast for the first 69 minutes on Sunday they will set a new  A-League record.

"It's there but it's not really in the back of our minds that we need to go out and break this record," Bridge said.

"We just go out focused towards the game, if anything comes on top of that including the record, then that is an added bonus.

"They have the leading goal scorer in the league so hopefully we get a good crowd and it gets bigger and bigger as we head to the Melbourne game on Valentine's Day. I think that game is going to be massive."

Bridge is confident the Sky Blues can take the three points on offer as a mean defence comes up against the free-scoring Shane Smeltz.

"It's first versus second and they are a new team with some great players," Bridge said. "Jason Culina is a good player and a Socceroo and everyone always likes playing against the big players.

"He will be worried about us, with Alex Brosque coming back in and Stevie Corica is in fine form so he will be more worried about our team at the moment.

"Our record at home has been strong this season, we are in a good place and we are playing well. They are coming off a midweek game and they had a very tough game against Adelaide to get a point.

"It's an extra 90 minutes that we don't have to play and no matter what people say, it does take its toll on the legs and mentally."

The Sky Blues welcome back key defender Simon Colosimo from suspension, further bolstering the league's best defence.
