MARK Bridge has been thwarted in his bid for a return to action tonight with a groin injury ruling him out of Sydney FC's clash with Wellington Phoenix at the SFS.
Bridge has been out since late December and was expected to line up against Phoenix but was ruled out yesterday after complaining of a groin problem.
Sydney coach Vitezslav Lavicka said it was disappointing but was confident the striker would return for Saturday's final game against Melbourne Heart.
"He started full training and did some conditioning exercise ... but today he was complaining about his groin, he won't be ready for the game," Lavicka told AAP.
"He has to manage it with the medical staff but he should be OK."
The club is expected to announce Karol Kisel's return at tonight's match.
