Sydney FC debutant Michael Bridges declared his side's 3-2 win over Central Coast "unbelievable", adding the score might have been a whitewash.
“If Brosquey [Alex Brosque] had scored a penalty, it could've been six or seven in the end. We were a different class,” said Bridges at this morning's team recovery session at North Bondi beach.
“To beat the team on top of the league - and that performance especially in the first half - was unbelievable. I was well impressed," he said of the 3-2 win at the Sydney football stadium.
“On that performance, we showed we can beat anyone. Just the way Bimbi [Steve Corica], Junny [Juninho] and myself interlinked with Brosquey.”
The former Leeds United and Sunderland star, however, did not want to be drawn on whether he thought the rejuvenated FC could win the Grand Final.
“You've got to take one game at a time. We're not going to set any targets.”
What is for sure is the former English U21 has lifted Sydney both on and off the park. His bubbly personality is clearly bonding the side in a way that Dwight Yorke did, with one unnamed player saying it was “just what the side needed”.
Bridges added that the standard of the A-League was “up there with the English championship”.
