Ahead of what is arguably the biggest match of the A-League summer of football, Sydney face Brisbane Roar as the in-form team of the A-League.

The Sky Blues have scored four goals on five occasions this season and heading into tomorrow night’s Round 13 clash, Brillante believes Sydney have more to give.

“I don’t think we are at our peak,” he said. “We’ve got plenty of room for improvement as we are not even halfway into the season yet.

"But it’s a great indicator of how we have been going and it just shows the confidence and the positive vibes there amongst the team. It’s a good sign for us moving forwards."

Brillante feels that the key to Sydney FC continuing their undefeated record is by maintaining a ruthless edge.

“It's stuff like not even giving other teams an opportunity to get close or near the goal and still scoring goals,” he said “There are still plenty more performances this season to come for us that are going to be outstanding.

“With so many players of the quality that we have, and the structure and everything we have at the club, and the culture and how happy everyone is playing with each other, you don’t always get that in a lot of good teams.

“It’s a strange thing but at the same time it’s a great feeling and to be doing quite well makes it even better.”

Even though the Roar brought an end to Sydney’s winning streak after a 1-1 draw in November, Brillante denies the Sky Blues are using that result as motivation for tomorrow night’s game.

“No not at all,” he said. “It hasn’t been mentioned or thought about at all. In the last game, we played Brisbane away from home we absolutely dominated them and should have been up two or three nil at halftime.

“There are no worries on that side of things, we know what we can do and the result that day didn’t go exactly the way we wanted it. I can’t see why we need to change the way we are thinking about the game and going into this game against Brisbane.”

With Sky Blues Coach Graham Arnold referring to the Sky Blues as being invincible this season, Brilliante is preferring to take a more humble approach.

“Obviously, it’s in the back of our minds knowing that we haven’t been beaten yet,” he said. “It’s not something that we are really concentrating on.

"It’s more focusing on each game as it comes along and the performance and the result will follow that.

“Any team that is doing well there is always going to be a target on your back to be the team that beats you. It happens in all areas of sport and life in general.  We are concentrating on being prepared for each game and knowing that we are ready to go out and win the battle.

“You’ve seen us in our previous two games away from home that we have scored four goals and had two wins so that is the way we are thinking at the moment.”
