Brimmer joined the English giants as a 16-year-old three years ago from Nunawading City.

The midfielder has come through the Reds ranks and is now playing for the club’s Under-23s team.

It is expected Brimmer will depart Liverpool at the end of the season.

The central midfielder told FourFourtTwo that if is to leave the English Premier League club then he wants to remain in Europe.

Brimmer has been linked with the likes of Burnley.

“I’ve been looking a few other clubs but nothing’s been confirmed yet,” he said.

“Europe is the main key for me. I want to stay in Europe, whether it’s in the UK or whether its Holland, Germany, wherever really.

"Obviously I’ll be looking at a few other clubs and it’s where I’m comfortable with the style of football I play as well.”

Brimmer has enjoyed his time in Merseyside.

“Growing up in the first year was a bit tough but then my Mum and Dad came over with me, which helped,” he said.

“I think I’ve settled in. I quite love Liverpool as a city and everyone at the club – I love the club. Whether I stay at Liverpool or I don’t, I’ll always love Liverpool.”

The 18-year-old feels his time immersed in English football, at one of the biggest clubs in the world, and training with first-players has helped his development significantly.

“It’s a lot different here compared to the football in Australia,” he said.

“The pace of the game is a lot quicker and that’s where I’ve learnt the most. It’s a lot different and you have to be ready at all times. You never know what’s going to happen or when an opportunity is going to come.

“It’s been great. No matter what happens to me I will always take that experience with what I’ve had over the last three years. It’s been one hell of a ride, hopefully many more years to come obviously.

“I’ve got to work hard and no matter where I go I have to be ready.”

A number of young Australian players who have spent time with English clubs as juniors have returned to play successfully in the A-League, such as Brandon Wilson and Mitch Austin.

But Brimmer is adamant about staying and believes he is ready for the step up into first-team football.

“My main key now is to stay fit, keep the ball rolling and look in Europe and go from there,” the Young Socceroo said.

“My idea is not to go home at this stage yet. I think I am capable of playing senior football at this point in time.”
