Glory, who played Premier League pair Wolverhampton and Fulham in pre-season two years ago, will face Celtic in a friendly at nib Stadium in early July.

And the club's chief executive Paul Kelly told The Weekend West they have commenced discussions to bring more high-profile clubs to Perth.

"We've started discussions on bringing significant clubs, such as Barcelona, to Perth," Kelly said.

"We've started talking to people through match agents and direct to some clubs."

Kelly conceded luring such an opponent could be an expensive exercise but said there was scope for financial support from the state government following positive talks over the Celtic match.

The Glory chief executive added: "The Celtic game is a test case. You've got to plan these things 12 months in advance if you want to catch the teams like Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

"A lot of these clubs go to Asia (during pre-season) anyway and we'd like to get them here for an exclusive one-off game."

Kelly also revealed the initial response to the Celtic game had been positive following the release of tickets during the pre-sale period this week.

"If you look at it historically for concerts (at nib Stadium) and other things, it's tracking at 15,000," Kelly said.

"We think Celtic are one of those teams that will attract a big crowd."
